We are seeking for

We are looking for a Communications Manager – Content & Media Relations (gn*) to serve as a parental leave replacement on the Communications Team in Hamburg, to start as soon as possible. 

This is a part-time position (75%, 30 hours per week). The position is temporary, for up to 16 months, depending on the start date.

Your Responsibilities

You will shape KLU’s communications across all relevant external and internal channels at a leading international business school with campuses in Hamburg, Saigon, Vietnam, and—in the future—Africa and Latin America. In this role, you will work closely with colleagues from administration and research and be part of a small international team that supports and covers for one another.
  • Traditional higher education communications, with a particular focus on science communications
  • Press and media relations: identifying topics, pitching stories, writing press releases, maintaining contacts with journalists and media outlets, and securing coverage in our target media
  • Producing content (text, images, audio) for our communication channels (e.g., newsroom, blogs, newsletters, advertorials, brochures) 
  • Central video coordination for the university’s public image and further development of KLU’s YouTube channel
  • Advising university members on communication matters
  • Coordinating external service providers 
  • Willingness to occasionally provide editorial coverage of evening and weekend events 

Your qualifications

  • At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in communications, editorial work, PR, journalism, or related fields
  • A talent for writing, a strong feel for language, and excellent command of English and German
  • Strong editorial judgment and a keen sense for topics, tone, and target audiences
  • Enjoyment of press relations and actively positioning people and topics;
    desirable: a network of relevant media contacts 
  • An affinity for video projects (both strategic and operational) is a plus
  • Confident demeanor, a proactive approach, and a high degree of ownership and a hands-on mentality
  • Eagerness to collaborate trustingly within a team, including covering for one another on projects and formats
